ThemajorityofBizTalkServersetupproblemsoccurbecausetheBizTalkServercomputerwasnotproperlypreparedbeforeBizTalkServerwasinstalled,orapreviousinstallationofBizTalkServerwasnotfullyuninstalledbeforeanewinstallationwasattempted.

Problem
AfteryouunconfiguretheBizTalkEDI/AS2featureofBizTalkServer,someBizTalkServerartifactsrelatedtoEDIandAS2processingwillstillbeactiveinthecontextoftheBizTalkgroupconfiguration.TheseartifactswillincludeEDIandAS2pipelinesandthebatchingorchestration.Asaresult,youwillstillbeabletoperformbasicEDIandAS2processingevenafterunconfiguringtheBizTalkEDI/AS2feature.
Cause
ThereareactiveportsassociatedwithEDIandAS2processing.Someartifactswillcontinuetofunctionwhiletheseportsremainactive.
Resolution
TodisableallEDI/AS2artifacts,youshoulddisable,stop,ordeletetheportsassociatedwithEDIandAS2processing.
IftheBizTalkServerComputerorSQLServercomputerisrenamedafterBizTalkServerconfiguration,theConfigurationWizardwillfail
Thisproblemmaymanifestitselfinseveralways:
∙TheconfigurationmanagerwillloadtheOverviewpagecorrectly,butwhenattemptingtoconfigureafeature,thefeatureoptionsdonotdisplayonthescreen.
∙TheconfigurationwizardcannotconnecttotheSQLServer.
∙AttemptingtoUnconfigureAllunconfiguressomefeatures,butnotall.
TheBizTalkServerconfigurationstoresthecomputernetworkname.Whenthecomputerisrenamed,theconfigurationmanagerandconfigurationwizardcannotlocatetheBizTalkServer.AsimilarproblemwilloccuriftheSQLServercomputerisrenamedafterBizTalkServerisconfigured.
DonotrenametheBizTalkServercomputerortheSQLServercomputer.Ifaservermustberenamed,unconfigureallBizTalkfeaturesbeforerenamingthecomputer.Afterrenamingthecomputer,reconfigureBizTalkServerfeatures.
TheBizTalkServerBusinessRulesConfigurationWizardfails
∙TheBusinessRulesConfigurationWizardfailswiththeerror“Configurationfailedforsomecomponentsandnosettingswereappliedforthosecomponents.”
∙OnBizTalkServercomputersforwhichtheBusinessRulesEnginehasalreadybeensuccessfullyconfigured,theRulesEngineUpdateservicefailstostartandcannotbestartedmanually.
