Formorethan60years,Legobricks(乐高积木)havebroughtsomuchfuntochildren.Now,anewtypeofLegoisintheworks.They’reLegoBraille(盲文)Bricks,andthey’rebeingtestedaroundtheworld.
LegoBrailleBricksaredesignedtohelppeoplelearnBraille.That’sasetofwritinginwhichlettersareshownbyraiseddots(凸点).Peoplewhoareblindorhavesomeproblemswiththeireyesusetheirfingerstoreadit.
AccordingtotheWorldHealthOrganization,36millionpeopleworldwideareblind.IntheU.S.,only10%ofblindchildrenlearnBraille.LegoBrailleBrickscanhelpchangethat.ThesmallraiseddotsonthebricksareplacedasBrailleletters.BlindchildrencanusetheseraiseddotstolearnBraille.
LegoplanstostartsellingBrailleBricksnextyear.Forsomeschools,thebrickswillbefree.Eachsetwillcontainabout250bricks.Alongwiththeletters,thebrickswillhavenumbersandmathsymbols.
TheDanishAssociationoftheBlindwasoneofthefirstorganizationstocomeupwiththeideaofusingLegobrickstoteachBraille.ThorkildOlesenisthepresidentofthegroup.In2011,Olesen’sorganizationshareditsideaforBrailleBrickswiththeLegoFoundation.OlesenexplainedtothetoymakerthattheraiseddotsonLegosaresimilartoBrailleletters.

wecancomebackanotherday”.Thesecondquestionnaireincludedquestionsthatcouldshowhowoftentheylietotheirparentsasadults.Lastly,theseyoungadultsfilledintwootherquestionnairesthataskedthemabouttheirpsychologicalproblemsandtendencytobehaveselfishlyandimpulsively(冲动地).
