OriginatingintheRockyMountainsofColorado,theColoradoRiverextendsfor2,330kmtotheGulfofCaliforniainMexico.

ItwasinhabitedbyavarietyofNativeAmericanpeopleswhospokemorethan300differentlanguages.TheEuropeansandAfricansaddedtheirownvaryingculturestothisdiversity.

The13coloniestheyfoundedalongtheeasternseaboardbecametheUnitedStatesinthelate18thcentury.

Duringthefollowingcentury,thenewnationaddedhugechunksofterritory,andmillionsofimmigrantsarrived,mainlyfromEuropeandespeciallyduringtheyearsfrom1860to1914.

AsecondmigrationoccurredintheSouthwest,whereHispanicspushednorthwardfromMexico,leavinganindelibleimprint.
