1.关系代词的选择规则
由先行词决定:
*先行词是物 whichthatwhose
*先行词是人 whowhomthatwhose
由关系代词在定语从句中所充当的成分决定:
*Whichthatwho主语
*Whichthatwhom宾语
*whose(ofwhich/ofwhom)定语

1)Weuseadjectiveclausesstartingwithwhosetoshowthatsomeoneorsomethingbelongstoorisconnectedwithsomeoneelse.Whoseisalwaysfollowedbyanoun.

1.Definingclause
eg.Shehastwosonswhoaresoldiers.

2.Non-definingclause

她有两个儿子,他们都是当兵的.(她只有两儿子)

这是定语从句的拓展部分,拓展了分别只能用that,which的情况;
介词提前的用法。
教师可选择使用。
1.关系代词只用that不用which的情况:
(1)先行词是形容词最高级或它的前面有最高级形容词修饰时
Eg.Tibetisthemostbeautifulplacethathehasvisited.
(2)先行词是个序数词或者它的前面有一个序数词时
Eg.ThisisthelastfilmthatIwanttosee.
(3)先行词是all,much,little,something,everything,nothing,none,theone等代词时
Eg.That’sallthatIwanttotellyou.
(4)先行词前有only,any,few,little,much,no,all,thevery等词修饰时
Eg.Thisistheverybookthatheislookingfor.
(5)先行词既有人又有物时,用that
Eg.Doyouknowthethingsandpersons________theyaretalkingabout.
(6)主句是Therebe开头的句子且先行词是物时,用that
Eg.Thereisstillalotthatyoudon’tknow.
(7)主句已有疑问词who或which时
Eg.Whoisthatboythatislookingafterthesheep.
(8)有两个定语从句,其中一个关系代词已用which,另一个则用that
Eg.Mybrotherboughtapresentwhichisabeautifulwatchthatcosthimalot
2.关系代词只可用which的情况:
(1)在非限定性定语从句中,先行是物,关系代词只能用which
Eg.China,whichisadevelopingcountry,hasalargepopulation.
(2)关系代词前有介词时
Eg.1)Thisisthehotelinwhichwestayed.
2)Thisisthehotelwhich/thatwestayedin.
(3)如果先行词是整个主句,关系代词指代整个句子时
Eg.Hetoldliesagain,whichmadehismotherveryangry.
(4)有两个定语从句,其中一句的关系代词是that,为了避免重复,另一句则用which引导
Eg.Mybrotherboughtapresentwhichisabeautifulwatchthatcosthimalot.
3.介词+关系代词
紧跟在介词后的关系代词的选择:
先行词指物which
先行词指人whom
介词的选择:
(1)与先行词的搭配
Eg.Thebedistheoneinwhichheslept.
=Thebedistheone(which)hesleptin.
(2)与定语从句中不及物动词的搭配
Eg.Whoisthemanwithwhomyoushookhandsjustnow?
=Whoistheman(whom)youshookhandswithjustnow?
