WhileMintzberg’sinitialresearchwashelpfulinstartingtheconversation,therehassincebeencriticismofhismethodsfromotherresearchers.Somecriticismsoftheworkwerethateventhoughthereweremultiplecategories,theroleofmanagerisstillmorecomplex.TherearestillmanymanagerrolesthatarenotastraditionalandarenotcapturedinMintzberg'
soriginalthreecategories.Inaddition,sometimes,Mintzberg’sresearchwasnotalwayseffective.Theresearch,whenappliedtoreal-lifesituations,didnotalwaysimprovethemanagementprocessinreal-lifepractice.
