Whenshewasnearly40,Earhartwasreadyforafinalchallenge-tobethefirstwomantoflyaroundtheworld.Herfirstattemptwasunsuccessfulbutshetriedagainin1937,withhernavigator(领航员)FredNoonan.Butonemonthlater,theydisappearedwithoutatrace(踪迹)inbadweatherinmid-flight.

Herdeathremainedamysteryuntilrecently.AstudypublishedinMarchconductedbyRichardJantzfromtheUniversityofTennessee,US,announcedthatbonesfoundin1940onafarawayPacificislandbelongedtoEarhart.
