That’swhytheUKgovernmentlaunchedits“e-petition”siteinNovember2006.Insteadofphysicallycollectingsignatures,allanyonewithanideahastodonowistomakeaproposalonthegovernmentwebsite,andanyonewhosupportstheideaisfreetoaddhisorhersignature.

Thepetitionssoonstartedtoflowin.TheideawasfortheBritishpeopletoexpresstheirconstructiveideas.Manychoseinsteadtoexpresstheirsenseofhumor.

OnepetitionercalledonTonyBlairtostoptheDeputyPrimeMinistereatingsomuch.Anotherwantedtoexpel（驱逐）ScotlandfromtheUnitedKingdombecauseScottishfootballfansneversupportEnglandintheWorldCup.

OtherpetitionerscalledonthePrimeMinistertoabolishthemonarchy.Somewantedtogiveitmorepower.SomewantedtoopposetheUnitedStates.OtherswantedtoleavetheEuropeanUnion.SomewantedtosendmoretroopstoIraqandotherswantedthemallbroughthome.SomewantedtoadopttheEuro（欧元）.Otherswantedtokeepthepound.
