computers.ItshutdownduetoafailiedlinkupwithNSF,whowantedto
connectits5countywidesupercomputersintoARPAnet.
WiththefundingofNSF,newhighspeedlinesweresuccessfullyinstalled
atlinespeedsof56k(anormalmodemnowadays)throughtelephonelines
in1988.Bythattime,therewere28,174computersonthe(bythendecided)Internet.In1989therewere80,000computersonit.By1989,therewere290,000.
