1.Owersourcemustconnectedtomachineandturnedon.Turnthepowerdisconnect/lockoutswitchtothe“O”（OFF）positionandlockout.Allowmachinetocometoacompletestop,thenpressthe“I”（start）buttonandholdfortwosecondstoverifythatthemachinewillnotstart.Afterthegreenguardlockingswitchstatuslightsilluminate（whenallrotatingmachinepartsareidle）unfastenthedrawlatchconnectingthefeedcoverdoorandsupporthousing.Openthefeedcoverdoor.

2.Slideprotectivesleeveprovidedwiththemachineoverthecrosscutspindle（see“CrosscutKnifeSpindleAssembly”,page80）.

CAUTION:

Thefollowingstepinthismaintenanceprocedurerepuiresthatthecuttingpartsberotated.Usetheimpellertorotatetheparts.Theimpellershouldonlybegraspednearthebottomtoavoidcontactwithslicingknife!

3.Removethecircularsupportassemblywhichcontainsthecircularspindleassembly.Rotatetheimpellerbyhand（graspnearthebottom）untilthelineetchedonthecircularsupportassemblyalignswiththelineontheendofthecircularspindle（Figure28）.Theopensideofthedrivecouplermustfaceout（Figure39,page45）.Thiscanbeviewedbylookinginthespacebetweenthecircularsupportandthesupporthousing.Removethetwolockingnutsandpullthecircualarsupportassemblystraightoutandoffofthemachine（Figure29）.Placethesupportassemblyonaworksurfaceinasafepalce.

Alwayscarryandstorethecircualsupportassemblycontainingthecircularspindlesothatexposedknifeedgesdonotpresentasafetyhazard.

Thecrosscutknifespindleshouldberemovedfromthemachineifreplacingmorethantwocrosscutknivesandifremovingtheslicingknifeholder.Proceedtostep#4toremovecrosscutspindle.

Replacementofcrosscutknives:

Toreplacejustoneortwoknives,backoffscrewsapproximatelytwoturnsandpullretainingringout.Carefullyliftknifefromslot（Figure30）.Replaceknifemakingsureknifeisseatedincleanknifeslot,withallknivesisfacingthesamedirection.Usethetorquewrenchprovidedwithmachineandtightenretainingringscrewsto20inch/pounds（2:

2newton-meters）.Toreplacemorethantwoknives,removecrosscutspindlefromthemachineasoutlinedbelow.Seepage48formaintenanceinformation.

Thecrosscutspindleisheavy,weighingapproximately60pounds（27kg）.Useappropriateliftingtechniques.

4.Usethe“L”handlewrenchprovidedwiththemachineandremovetwoofthethreescrewsthatholdthespindletothemachine.Loosethethirdscrewbuttonotremove.

5.Installtheshaftextensiontoolprovidedwiththemachine.Guidetheshaftextensiontoolinplaceoverthestudinthecrosscutshaftandtightenuntilitstopsagainsttheshaft（Figure31）.

6.Removetheremainingfastenerthatholdsthespindle.Slidethespindleovershaftextensiontooltoremovefromthemachine（Figure32）.Carefullysetthespindleasideonasurfacethatwillnotdamagetheknives.

7.Removethestripperplateandstripperplatespacer.Threeboltsholdthestripperplatetothestripperplatespacerontheslicegate.Threescrewsholdthespacertothecase（Figure33）.Ifthespacerisdifficulttoremove,usethestripperplatefastenersasjackingscrewsintheholesonthespacerusedtoattachthestripperplate.

8.Removetheslicingknifeinsertbyusingascrewdriverorsimilartoolthatwillfitintheholeintheexposedhandleendoftheslicingknife（Figure34）.Carefullypulltheknifefromtheslicingknifeholder.Notethatsomecuttingapplicationsmayusetheslicingknifethatisintegratedwiththeknifeholder（noreplaceableinsert）.Thatknifeisremovedinthesamemannerastheslicingknifeholderasdescribedbelow.
