"Andyasked.Thesnowmannoddedandtheyspentthedayrunningthroughthewoods,playinghide-and-seek.Asthesunset,thesnowmanwavedgoodbyetohislittlefriendandleftSundial,passingbyAndy’shomeonhiswaybacktothemountains.

Andy’sfather,thevillagehead,sawthesnowmanwhenhelookedoutofthewindowatthesettingsun.Coldsweatdrippeddownhisface.ThefollowingSunday,hegavethevillagersaverydifferentmeeting.

Thenexttimethesnowmancametothevillage,thepeopleofSundialwereready,armedwithrocksandtorches(火把).Thestrikewascruel.Oneofhiscoaleyeswasknockedout,rollingdownintothesnowfield.Asthesnowmandesperatelytriedtoflee,Andy’sfatherstruckhimwithalittletorch,settinghiscoatonfire.Themeltingsnowmanrolledaround,strugglingtoputouttheblazingflames.Ashismeltingbodyextinguishedtheflames,thesnowmanfledthevillageofSundial.
