Surface:

two-dimensional;hasanarea

Solid:

three-dimensional,hasavolume

Theuseofsolidgeometryishelpfulwhendividingapartintomultiplevolumes.Forexample,divideapartintosimple,mappableregionstohexmeshthepart.
