ThemostominousimplicationoftheCreationistpositionisitsbeliefthat,injudgingthetruthofanidea,onecansimplyignorerationalevidence-ifitclasheswithone'sdesiretobelieveotherwise.Thisisadisastrousmethodologytoinculcateinourchildren-anditisevenmoredangeroustobackitupwiththerulingofagovernmentbody.

Thecrucialroleofeducationistoprovideyoungpeoplewiththeinformationandmethodstheyneedinordertolearnhowtothinkindependently.Educationhasliberatedmankindfromtheshacklesofmyth,superstitionandunchallengedtradition.Buttheprevailingtrend-fromboththe"progressiveleft"andthe"religiousright"--istoreversethisdevelopment,byenshriningfeelingoverfactsandfaithoverreason.
