“Wearetryingtogetridoftheimagethatpotatoesarebadforyou,”shesaidonMonday.

“Thepotatohashaditsknocksinthepast.OfcourseitisnottheOxfordEnglishDictionary’sfaultbutwewanttouseanotherterminsteadof“couchpotato”becausepotatoesarenaturallyhealthy.”

TheOEDsaysthat“couchpotato”beganasAmericanslang,meaning“apersonwhospendshisorherleisuretimesittingaround,especiallywatchingtelevisionorvideotapes.”
