Medicineandlawaretwooftheoldestandbestknownprofessions.Theirprestige(威望)maycomefromthefactthatdoctorsandlawyersaresomeofthemostesteemedmembersofsociety,andtheymakegoodmoney.Joiningthesehigh-profileprofessionsisoftenseenasasignofupwardsocialmobility.

Itisequallyunsurprisingthatbankingisnowoneofthemostcommoncareerchoices.Youngstersworldwidethinkofbankingandseethemoneyrollingin.Wealthisincreasinglybecomingone

However,noteverychildhasthemakingsofdoctor,lawyer,orbanker.Theyarethosewhoseefulfillmentandhappinessinotherareas,andmanyteenagersdaretoinkmoreindividualityintotheircareeroptions.AstheTeens’surveydiscovered,avarietyofunconventionaljobs—coffeeshopowner,gourmet(美食家),waiteratafastfoodrestaurant—areamongteenagers’careerchoices.Theycanbeequallyinterestingandrewardingjobs.

WhenhisbookTheLittlePrincebegan,ConorGrennanwasplanningayear-longtriparoundtheglobe,ajourneythatbeganwithathree-monthvoluntaryserviceintheLittlePrincesChildren’sHome,anorphanage(孤儿院)inNepal.

ThisrealizationturnedConor’sglobaljourneyintoastrongdesiretotrytofindawaytoreunitethesechildrenwiththeirfamilies.Asapartofhisefforts,ConordidagreatamountofworkwhenhewasbackinAmerica.Hestartedupanon-profitorganizationcalledNextGenerationNepal(NGN),raisingfundsinordertobuyahouseinNepalasanotherchildren’shome.Then,backinNepal,hebeganalife-changingtripintoremotevillages.

ItisreallyamazingtoreadaboutConorcommunicatingwiththechildrenandtoreadhisdescriptionsofeachofthem.Hemademetrulycareaboutthekids.Iwantedthemtobeabletoreunitewiththeirfamilies,too!

Unfortunately,thiswassimplynotpossibleforsomeofthechildren.Butthereweresomeluckyones.Jagrit,forexample,hadthoughtforyearsthatbothhisparentsweredead.So,ConnorwassurprisedwhenhevisitedJagrit’svillageandwasintroducedtotheboy’sfather!
