Thisbibliographyisnotexhaustive,however,atleastwithregardtobooks,itwellrepresentstheavailableliterature.Ihaveincludedonlyacomparativelyfewnumberofjournalarticles,beingfarmoreselectivehereinordertokeepthelistmanageable.Indeed,towardthatend—withafewexceptions—Ichose‘about1980’asanarbitrarycut-offdate(thusoneshouldnotassumeanythingbeforethatperiodissomehowwithoutmerit).Shouldyouknowofabookorarticleconspicuousbyitsabsence(i.e.you’refairlyconvincedofitshighquality),pleaseletmeknow.Someofthetitlesdonot,strictlyspeaking,fallwithinthecategoriesofethics,rights,andlaw.Insuchcases,I’veincludedthemeitherbecausetheytouchuponpresuppositions,assumptionsorpremisesessentialtothisorthatargumentfoundintheliterature,or,theyareexceptionallylucidwithrespecttoasubsidiarytopicwithinanimalethics,rights,andlaw.Finally,muchofthislistwouldnothavebeenpossiblewithouttheexcellentbibliographyinAngusTaylor’swonderfulbook,AnimalsandEthics:
