Purpose

Thismethodstatementistodescribetheprocedureandtechniquesofconstructionoftrafficdiversionroadsinasafemannerthatwillsatisfyalltherequirements.

Section2.0:

ScopeofWork

Thismethodstatementdescribestheactivitiesrelatedtotrafficdiversionroads,includingsiteclearance(REF:

EXW-P011-0000-CM-CHE-MT-00002),embankment(REF:

EXW-P011-0000-CM-CHE-MT-00011、EXW-P011-0000-CM-CHE-MT-00006),sub-grade(REF:

EXW-P011-0000-CM-CHE-MT-00011、EXW-P011-0000-CM-CHE-MT-00006),roadbase(REF:

EXW-P011-0000-CM-CHE-MT-00025),asphaltwork,installationofpolelight(REF:

EXW-P011-0000-CM-CHE-MT-00085),trafficsignal(REF:

EXW-P011-0000-CM-CHE-MT-00096),installationofsignboard,safetybarriersandroadmarkingetc.Theseactivitiesarecoveredinseparatedmethodstatement.

Section3.0:

Responsibilities

TheworkwillbecarriedoutbyCHEC,headedbytheConstructionManager.

•ConstructionManager–Partiallyresponsiblefortheconstructionandarrangementofcivilworks,inchargeofsiteengineer.

•HSEEngineer&HSEOfficer–ResponsibleforHSEonsiteduringconstruction,coordinatewithSiteEngineer,infrastructuresuperintendent.

•QCEngineer–Responsibleforqualityofstructureonsiteduringconstruction,coordinatewithSiteEngineer,requestforInspectionandTestingprocessesandcoordinationwiththeEngineer’sInspectorsrepresentative.

•Surveyor–Responsibleforsurveyworkandsettlementmonitoringworkonsite,coordinatewithSiteEngineer,thesurveyrequestprocessandcoordinationwiththeEngineer’ssurveyorrepresentative.

•SiteEngineer–Siteengineerresponsibleforconstructionofwork,coordinatewithHSEEngineer,QA/QCengineer,surveyor,willinchargeofforemen,operators,drivers,labours,reportsdirectlytoconstructionmanager,requestforInspectionandTestingprocessesandcoordinationwiththeEngineer’sInspectorsrepresentative,aswellassupervisor.

•Foreman-Directlysupervisestheworkactivityonthesiteandhasfullcontrolovertheuseofthelabour,plantandequipment.Heensuresthattheworkiscarriedoutinfullcompliancewiththespecification,andinamannerthatconformstothesafetyrequirements.HereportstotheSiteEngineerwhentheworkiscompleteandreadyforinspection.

•Allpersonnel(operators)shouldbequalifiedandtherelevantcertificateshouldbeavailable.

Whererequiredasperprojectcontractspecification,permits&licencesshallbeobtainedfromrelevantauthoritiespriortostartwiththerelatedworksoractivities.

•ApprovedBCType-1andSCType-1designmixes.

6.2Control,Storage&ProtectionofSpecificMaterials

•Materialsshallbestoredandhandledastoassurethepreservationoftheirqualityandfitnessforuseintheworks.Evenaftersourceapprovalhasbeengivenmaterialsmayagainbeinspectedandtestedbeforeusedinthework.

•Eachshipmentofmaterialsisloaded,shouldbeblockedandsecurelyfastentoavoiddamagesduringtransportation.

•Theimportantmaterialsshouldbekeptcleanawayfromoil,grease,excessiveheatandoutofthedirectraysofthesun.

•CHECshalltakeallnecessaryprotectionmeasuresinthestorage,handlingandstockpilingofmaterialstopreventcontaminationofmaterialbytest.

DetailedMethodofCarryingOutthisMethodStatement

7.1Preparationpriortowork

•Allequipmentsaretestedandsuitableforthecurrentwork.

•Alltheequipment,material,andpersonnelstaffhavebeenpreparedinsitu.

•Alltheequipmentsarefunctioningalltime.

•Electricalpowerwillbemainlysuppliedbygenerators.Thegeneratorswillbeavailableandplacedclosetotheworkingarea.

7.2Permitshallbeobtainedbeforecommenceofwork

•AllmaterialsandmixdesignsshallbeapprovedbyEngineerpriortouseinconstruction.

•AllnecessaryWorkpermitsshallbeobtainedpriortothecommencementofanyactivityonthesite.PersonnelresponsibleforsupervisingtheWorksonsite(Engineers/Forman)shallbeawareofthepermittoworksystemandpermitshallbevalidthroughouttheentiredurationoftheoperation.

•AllequipmenttobeutilizedonsiteshallhaveavalidThirdPartyCertificate.

•Competentpersonnelshallberesponsibleforliftingactivities.

7.3Checkingofundergroundutilities

•Priortocommenceofworks,undergroundutilitiesshallbecheckingaccordingtoas-built,undergrounddetectingreportsetc.

•Ifthereisanyundergroundutilityindesignedarea,propermethodshallbeimplementedtoprotecttheutility.

•Workpermitshallbegivenbyspecificauthoritypriortoworkifanyundergroundutilitycouldhavebeenfoundonworksite.

7.4SiteDemolitionandClearance

•Refertothelatestmethodstatementofsitedemolitionandclearance(documentno.:

7.5SoilFillingandCompactionforRoadWorks

•Refertothelatestmethodstatementofsoilfillingandcompactionforroadworks(documentno.:

EXW-P011-0000-CM-CHE-MT-00011).

7.6Aggregateroadbase

•Refertothelatestmethodstatementofaggregateroadbaseandsub-base(documentno.:

EXW-P011-0000-CM-CHE-MT-00025).

7.7Asphaltwork

7.7.1SupplyandSprayofPrimeCoat:

Priortolayoftheasphaltmix,primecoatofMC-70mediumcuringcutbackasphaltwillbeappliedtoanabsorbentroadbasesurfacewhichwillprepareatreatedbaseasperQCS2010,Clause5.12insection6.ThePrimecoatpenetratesintothebaseandplugsthevoidsandhardensthetopandhelpshindittolayittotheoverlayingasphaltcourse.Applicationofprimecoatwillbeasfollows:

•Primecoatwillbesprayedoverthepreparedroadbase.

•Theapplicationratewillbebetween0.75and1.00lit/Sqm.andtheapplicationtemperaturewillbebetween60oCdegreeand85oCdegree.

•Theprimecoatwillbecutbackbitumenconsistingofa60/70penetrationgradebitumenandkerosene.Theresiduefromthedistillationtest,carriedoutto360oC,shallbeaminimumof55%(byvolume),asdeterminedbythedifferencemethod.

•Ifthesurfaceiscoveredinwind-blowndustorfineaggregatethenapowerbroomwillbeprovidedtoremovethematerialsandcleantheareabeforeapplicationofprimecoat.

•Theprimecoatwillbesprayedbywell-equippedmechanicalpumpandmechanicaldistributorfixedwithatanker(truck).Blottermaterialwillbespreadfromtrucksoperatedbackwardsothatthewheelswillnottravelinuncoveredwetasphalticmaterial.Whenapplyingblottermaterialtoanasphalttreatedlanethatadjoinsalanethathasnotbeentreated,astripatleast200mmwidealongtheadjoiningedgewillbeleft.

•Theprimecoatwillbeappliedto1/2oftheroadwidthatatimeandgetaslightoverlapofasphaltmaterialalongadjoiningedgesofthelanes.Thickpaperwillbeusedtoprotectthepreviousapplicationjointsandotherappurtenances.

•Trafficwillnotbepermittedontheprimedsurfacesoonthan48hoursaftersprayofprimecoat.

•Asphaltmixwillbenotpermittedsoonerthan2hoursafterapplicationofprimecoatmaterial.Ifthereisanyexcessiveblottermaterial,dirtorotherobjectionablematerials,thesurfaceirregularitieswillbecorrectedbeforetheapplicationoftheasphaltmix.

7.7.2SupplyandLayingofBaseCourse:

•TheAsphaltBCType-1willbeusedasBase-coursewhichwillbemixaccordingtoQCSinafullycomputerizedAsphaltMixplant.AsphaltMixplantshallbeapprovedbyS
