我国的植树节

3月12日是孙中山先生逝世纪念日。

中山先生生前十分重视林业建设。

他任临时大总统的中华民国南京政府成立不久，就在1912年5月设立了农林部，下设山林司，主管全国林业行政事务。

1914年11月颁布了我国近代史上第一部《森林法》1915年7月，政府又规定将每年“清明”定为植树节。

1979年2月，五届全国人大常委会第六次会议根据国务院的提议，通过了将3月12日定为我国植树节的决议，这项决议的意义在于动员全国各族人民积极植树造林，加快绿化祖国和各项林业建设的步伐。

将孙中山先生与世长辞之日定为我国植树节，也是为了缅怀孙中山先生的丰功伟绩，象征中山先生生前未能实现的遗愿将在新中国实现并且要实现得更好。

三月十二日是中国的植树节。

1979年2月，中国第五届全国人大常委会第六次会议决定，将每年的3月12日定为中国的植树节。

1981年12月，五届全国人大四次会议又通过了《关于开展全民义务植树运动的决议》，国务院于次年颁布了全民义务植树运动的具体实施办法。

植树节前后，中国各地都要集中进行植树造林活动。

自1981年12月以来，中国全民义务植树累计超过350亿株。

中国正在实施“三北”和长江中下游地区重点防护林建设、退耕还林还草、野生动植物保护及自然保护区建设、天然林保护等六大林业重点工程。

至2000年底，中国的森林覆盖率已达16.55％，城市建城区人均公共绿地提高到6.52平方米，全国自然保护区总面积超过1亿公顷。
