In1929,shegotmarriedtoDiegoRivera,anotherfamousMexicanartist.Rivera’sstronginfluencesonKahlo’sstylecanbeseeninherearlyworks,butherlaterworksfromthe1940s,knowntodayasherbestworks,showlessinfluencefromherhusband.

Unfortunately,herworksdidnotattractmuchattentioninthe1930sand1940s,eveninherhomecountry.Herfirstone-womanshowinMexicowasnothelduntil1953.Formorethanadecadeafterherdeathin1954,Kahlo’sworksremainedlargelyunnoticedbytheworld,butinthe1970sherworksbegantogaininternationalfameatlast.
