Someofthesnakesthattheycatcharekeptaspets;somearegiventotheNorthCarolinaStateUniversity.Most,includingthepoisonoussnakes,aresetfreeinthewild,usuallyinanationalpark.

Fredsuggeststhatpeopleshouldtreatsnakeswithcare.“Actuallysnakesareveryshyandgentlecreatures.Theyonlyattackiftheyarefrightened.However,youhavetoknowhowtotreatasnakeproperly!

First,theresearchersbreed(培育)hundredsofcockroaches.TheyuseonlytheAmericancockroachbecauseitisbiggerandstrongerthanothercockroaches.Thentheychoosethebestcockroachesandremovetheirwingsandantennae(触须).Theyputsmallpackswheretheantennaewere.Thepacksweighaboutthreegrams,orabouttwotimestheweightofthecockroachesthemselves.“Cockroachesareverystrong,”saysRalphHolzer,whoisaresearcheratTokyoUniversity.“Theycanlift20timestheirownweight.”
